d20 Future going out of print?

Just curious about this, but I notice that Amazon has it listed as '4-6 weeks', that Paizo says it's unavailable, and that my FLGS guy told me it was no longer available to order from his distributor (i.e. he couldn't get any more in).

Is it going out of print, or is someone aware of a second printing? I did manage to pick up a copy at another FLGS, but I'm starting to think I got one of the last available copies in the area.

Anyway, wondering if anyone had any info.

First I've heard about limited availability of d20F.

Yah, I was surprised. I'd been meaning to pick it up for awhile and had only just gotten around to it. Then I started to notice that it was getting harder to get. I would have assumed just bad luck until the game store fella told me he had tried to order more and couldn't.

Well, the way WotC typically does non-Core books is to only make one printing.

This came up with some Star Wars RPG books that were in high demand and sold out, the smallest print runs they can really accomodate are in the tens of thousands, so most books never warrant a reprint. Once a book sells out, it might be a while before it gets reprinted, because the demand has to be pretty high to warrant a second printing.

Yeah, two of my players had been looking to pick up copies after increasing whining from their GM (me) for someone to play d20F with-all of our local shops are currently out and have not had their outstanding distributor orders for them filled in a while.

That seems like a reasonable explanation. Really too bad though, with all the cool stuff based off of the Future rules. It's not a core book, but it kind of is. I don't have a group together right now to play the future game I'm planning, but eventually, I'd like to be able to tell my players to go buy copies. Oh well, I guess there's always the SRD . . .

If it is never printed an distributed again, maybe this is an opportunity for some third party publisher to use the SRD and then create and distribute (probably as a PDF) a supplement that could replace d20 Future. RPGObject for example, must already have a lot of existing material it could re-use to such an endeavour... (just my two cents of course.)

I was thinking the same thing. Pretty much exactly.

Their Blood and Space series (or at least the first volume) could be retooled for use with d20 Future SRD material.

But if the demand for d20 Future is high, WotC cannot ignore it knowing it can bring them some money.
