d20 Future Tech

I don't know why people expect Wizards to just put everything in OGL. They don't do this for Dungeons & Dragons why do you think they would ever do this for D20 Modern? The whole "its not in SRD so I won't buy it" is bull. You people probably don't even buy it anyways and that is why you are upset its not in the SRD, you don't get it for free.

You're welcome to come have a look at my book shelves. And whether or not they add any of the material to the SRD I'll buy or not buy based on my thoughts after I flip through it at the store.

That sounds interesting, at least in theory. Though it's not perfect, I like d20 Future, and it will be cool to see all this support material in one place. It looks like it will complement Rodney's Future Player's Companion series for Game Mechanics, which is another plus.

Alas, it's true appeal, at least to me, will depend on whether it joins the MSRD or not. Same reason I have not bought d20 Apocalypse (and d20 Cybertech will probably follow suit as well). Past was ok, but just ok, especially because it wasn't added to the MSRD (though I wonder if that's because there seemed--at least to me--to be a general lack of interest in the product).

I agree that D20 Past showed a distinct lack of imagination. While not bad it could have been so much better. For example the inclusion of some of the advance classes from Iron Lords of Jupiter to cover the primitive tribes that existed throughout a good portion of the time period covered would have been one way the product could have been improved.

I was pleasantly suprised by D20 Apocalypse and this is from someone who doesn't care the genre that much.

I am inclined to think the same, and that, I think, is unfortunate. In fact, I get the distinct feeling that the Modern OGC gravy train has come to a complete stop.

I don't know if the Modern OGL "gravy train" has ended, but I would't expect to see WotC add the splat book material to the OGL until a year or two after a book first debuts (I'm thinking of Deities and Demigods and Manual of Planes specifically).

My primary litmus tests for buying a product is whether or not I think it is well done and I can use it in my games, NOT it's OGL content (which comes third).

My group is on and off when it comes to playing in futuristic campaigns, which is why playability is not necessarily that important to me. I will take a look at it and decide then, much like with the other books (I keep hearing good things about Apocalypse). We'll see.

Please refer to Phil's post above.

As a bit of insight on the SRD process, remember that there's only one person at Wizards of the Coast who works on the SRD for both fantasy and modern: The Andy, Andy Smith. And that's just one of his duties, so he can't always be as quick with the SRD inclusions as he was with d20 Future. He also has to get approval from R&D (and probably Brand Management) on which products to add to the SRD, which can take a while.

So, I strongly suspect that it's not Wizards being "selfish" with their SRD material, but being too tight with their budget to hire another person to help The Andy focus on more than one SRD addition at a time.

I don't see it so much as being selfish as concentrating on what may best benefit the company. Adding things like Apocalypse and Future Tech really isn't going to generate any significant runs on those books.

The _only_ thing I'd really like to see happen is "D20 Future" added to the D20STL. It's not even planned, but it would be nice.

Is it in print and in FLGS? I don't have a plastic to order online.
Not yet. I believe that RPGO is hoping on bundling the entire BnS2 line into a book, but I don't know if and/or when.

Please note that, although I wrote one of the supplements, I don't speak for Chris.
