D20 Miniatures

So have any D20 companies approached any miniature companies about coming out with specific miniatures of their monsters and characters? I know that they couldn't use the D20 logo due to new rules of the license, but it'd be cool to see some Minions, Creature Collection, and other beasties out on the market. Now that Reaper has some competition from Ironwindmetals and some other companes, it'll be intersting to see if any such products are forthcoming.

Well, a company can use their own trademarks. For example, Necromancer Games can use the Scarred Lands trademark to make miniatures based on their product.

Well, it's something of a small market. I mean, if the mini is a monster in a book, the audience is probably mostly just the people that bought the book.

Some d20 companies that have their own settings have minis. Sovereign Press has some Vyrkyll minis.

Pinnacle has minis for their Deadlands and their Weird Wars lines.

There used to be some Michael Moorcock minis. I think some of them got recycled for Mage Knight Dungeons, but I'm not sure (A couple of the heroes look a lot like Melniboneans, especially their hats)

There are (or were) Traveller minis. And Star Wars minis.

We're speaking with some companies right now on doing some figures for Forbidden Kingdoms. I should have more info come Origins.

Hyrum.

Ah, Forbidden Kingdoms. Hope OgreCave gets a copy of that for review. Anyway, that's a great thing because FK doesn't have to rely on specifics, but figures that can be used for any Pulp setting ranging from FK to CoC 1930s.

Good luck.

If I recall correctly Ironwindmetals are essentially reissuing some of the old Ral Partha line. The only problem I find with this is that unfortunatly the old Ral Partha (excellent minis BTW) were true 25mm figures that tended to be exact scale, whereas Reaper minis (also excellent minis) are really 28mm figures....and mixing the two is a bit awkward...as the Ral Partha minis always tend to look like halflings when compared to the Reaper ones....

Just my 2 coppers..

Some of the 'new' figures, like the Necro Lord, can easily hold their own against the 28 mm Reaper. Most of their 'new' range seems to be of this scale. I think it's taken from the Crucible line and modified.

Just popping another note that the Warlord line of minis from Reaper are another excellent addition for the big baddies a campaign might boast. Best of all, you can get them from the store and avoid New Wave.

I've been thinking for a while now about doing a miniature for every PrC in the Heroes of High Favor line, based on Andy's fabulous artwork of course, but it's pretty far down on my To Do list at the moment.

Still, a box set of oddball PrC miniatures for each book would be fantastic... just fantastic... Dwarven monk? Half-orc sorceror? Just too cool...

I like how you managed to work in a New Wave dis!

damn them.

Foundry has some OK pulpish minis but it'd be really great to have some true Pulp minis.

Must have mad scientist flying an ornithopter with maybe a damsel in distress riding shot gun?

thatd be sweet!
