[d20 Modern/Future] What to do in a first adventure?

I'm running a intro adventure tomorrow night, and while the plot is all done, I'd like the game to be useful and to introduce the players to the d20 modern ruleset.

So what situations should I include? The two players are experienced DnD players, but they've never played Modern.

I'll obviously have a combat situation. I'd like a social situation, but I need to figure that one out. Any other kinda iconic situations?

depends on the level starting at, at 1st I would not have a gun fight as they will die pretty easily.

Having them stepping out of a shuttle or transport tube and having the city before them discribed would be pretty cool though

If they are D&D players, let them keep in mind that there are laws in the modern world! It's not Dungeons & Dragon where you can walk in full plate, sword in hand, and kill whomever gets in your way. Here, at the slightest misconduct, you run the risk of going into jail...

The Wealth system is something many people take some getting used to, particularly if they're coming over from D&D. Should be easy enough, but I would include a scenario or two where they need to buy/sell something, where they need to see if they just "have" something, and the always odd situation where they find "treasure" and their Wealth bonus increases.

I'd definately plan to spend some time on Wealth. And prepare to be descriptive with it, story-tell a touch. I've found that every time I'm bringing somebody from D&D to the Wealth system there's always at least some initial resistance.

And by resistance I mean: "This is (@#$& stupid." Most people will feel that tracking dollars and cents is "more realistic" and they'll especially get worked up when the guy with a Wealth Bonus two lower than him can buy a glock on a good roll and he didn't.

I had this work in reverse the other weekend when I gave the group a stock cash amount ("selling" cash) and the guy with the highest bonus ended the session with the lowest bonus (by one point). He didn't really have a problem with it, though, as he likes the Wealth system and the stories we can tell about situations just like that. One of the new players thought it odd.

But eventually folks get used to it. Take some time with it, though, make it fun, add some tension. Play with the time needed to shop some. I like to find a way to roll some dice for time shopping, for instance. Like if it'll take 12 hours, maybe do 1d10+2 and have some dramatic moment that will be happening in 8 hours.
