"D20 Modern" in Oct 2002

Actually Ranger REG Polyhedron is merging with Dungeon. The release squedual is still every other month. As far as I understand if you had a subscribtion to either you should now be getting the combined magazine instead of one or the other. The Living Greyhawk Journal is now combined with Dragon just so you know.

Got it yesterday

The Dungeon/Polyhedron issue with Shadow Chasers arrived yesterday, I've been perusing it for some time now. While I was excited about the d20 Modern rules, I found the execution to be very poor. I posted more about it in the General forum. In short, I've lost all my interest in the main d20 Modern book.

So they go to all the trouble to make d20 moderns in a very reasonable way then fall down on classes. WotC is making CoC without classes and they ignore that and make this? In fantasy based on Tolkein one can buy into classes, but in modern fantsy there are no classes. You would either end up with infinite classes determined by individual characters or no classes and lots of cool feats.

"d20 Modern", huh? One system to rule them all...The ghost of Alternity rises from the grave to stalk the living! Spooky...

Y'know, this just cries out for an urban fantasy ruleset. I've been tinkering with ideas for a Charles deLint/Borderlands kind of setting, and this'll come in damn handy. Hey, RangerWickett, you're working on a Fey guidebook, right? Interested in some more modern slanted bits?

ACtually, take a look at http://www.enworld.org/messageboards/showthread.php?s=&threadid=87 I've already played in a modern fantasy game with lots of Fey, which is what got me interested in the topic, actually. But send me an email if you want to talk about modern fey. I think I should propose this officially to Morrus, though.

Give it a break mate. Still a lot of development to be made - see the final version then make your judgment...

I'm merely stating that Shadow Chasers is poorly done for those contemplating getting this self-described "preview" of d20 Modern.

Not quite the right fit.

:( Ah, but this is d20 Modern. Not quite Alternity. It's missing the over the top Sci-Fi setting that it truely requires. Why do you think I'm so interested in DragonStar.
