[d20 Modern] Weird War II Conversion

Does anybody have Weird War II: Blood on the Rhine? I was thinking of bringing those rules up to date with d20 Modern, but I hit a snag on the classes.

In WWII, they have classes for Officer, Grunt, Pilot, Scout, Medic and Resistance Fighter. I'm not sure whether to keep those and add a Defense score for each level, or to just go with the d20 Modern classes.

If you were to use d20 Modern classes for a World War II campaign, what classes would you use to model the types of characters you'd want to play?

are those basic classes or PrCs?

if they're PrCs, you could use some of the Modern Advanced Classes instead (like Soldier for grunt, Infiltrator for scout, Field Medic for medic, of course :D )

if not, you could use character pathing to do similar things, like an officer may be a Dedicated or Charismatic hero/Soldier, and you could even add some levels of an adapted Personality advanced class (using a command skill (or something) in place of the Perform prerequisite, and using a class ability like Unlimited Access to requisition equipment...)

The classes in WWII:BOTR are basic classes.

well...

if i were going to switch to d20 Modern, i would use the modern classes and just use BOTR as a setting book

i'm sure there are plenty of ways to 'mimic' the BOTR classes through multi-classing, skills, feats and starting occupations.

a Pilot could be any class with the adventurer or miltary background (to gain the pilot skill as a class skill, and could spend one feat on aircraft operation); a Medic could have doctor, emergency services (or even student, like Billy Zane's character from Memphis Belle); and so on

Me too!

My beef isn't with the classes from BOTR, but with the gun and vehicle rules from Wierd Wars. My players have been using mostly classes from Star Wars (slightly modified) for our WWII era "serial adventure" campaign--pinnacle's work is good (I have almost all the Wierd Wars books) but just doesn't seem as polished as a WOTC product and so they (and I) tend to go with classes we KNOW are balanced. If anybody knows where I can find some plane/tank conversions to d20 modern rules, hook me up!

(I'd also like to see stats on some civilian vehicles from the era...any ideas? Anybody...? Anybody...? Bueller...? Bueller...?)

Universe, I have all the Pinnacle WWII books including Dead From Above and the air combat rules are some of the most elegant rules I have seen. They are fast and effective. Damage may need to be tweeked alittle but I will use these in my d20 compaign. If you have not seen them I highly recommend you have a look.

As for the tanks and civillian vehicles, I am indifferent to what BotR offers. I think the rules in d20 Modern are as good if not better. As for stats on these vehicles, I don't have anything, sorry.
