D20 Modern

Howdy, Durnscarniepals, and welcome to EN World. This is a great place for the sort of input you're looking for, so i hope you'll visit often!

I happen to have a bit of experience with d20 Modern, and I'll second pawsplay's analysis. In my own games, I've found it's a pretty good rule of thumb to bump the CR of any D&D creature with substantially supernatural powers by +2. You'll also want to watch out for (alter, discard, or use sparingly) any monster capabilities for which your PCs will have absolutely no countermeasures--like level drain, for example.

Hope that helps!

Well, haven't been able to come back to this thread in a while, I have been on vacation for the fourth of July. I've already gotten a lot of material prepared for our first session which is this weekend. Most of this content that I've got written was due to the advise from this thread since before I came here I was completely lost. Anyways, at the moment I am having a hard time finding lower CR type enemies. When making a encounter I much prefer a encounter of at least 3 enemies or more and then a few single enemy encounters here and there. I am still reading the how to lower the CR of a creature though so hopefully this will not be a problem soon.

Furthermore, I want to thank everyone for all the help. I would not have been able to get this campaign started if it wasn't for these forums.

You're having a hard time finding low-CR enemies because, ultimately, there just aren't that many low-CR monsters in the MM. (Dire) Rats, bats, spiders, humanoids with 1 HD or less... and of course, NPC cannon-fodder.

Ya, I am quickly realizing that and I think after we all get the grasp of how D20 modern works i might throw some extra XP out to level them to at least 3-4 faster. I actually have finally discovered the ordinary NPCs and how they are 1 CR lower than which at level 1 would become 1/2 so i guess for now ill have to deal with only 2-3 at a time.

But like i said in my earlier post it is coming along nicely as of now and is great due to this thread.

Oh, ironically the content I have planned out atm is full of dire rats and ordinary NPCs.
