D20 Past = 96 page softcover? Now I'm depressed.

I'm not sure why anyone would expect steampunk material in D20 Past.
Viet Nam, Cold war era, WWII, WWI, Civil War era, Old West, Revolutionary War, etc.

Well, we do tend to mark history by wars...

That's the sort of that springs to mind. Even pirates. But steampunk? That's far too few pages and far too many years to cover to be adding fantasy elements like steampunk.

Not that I have a problem with the genre. I just think that if you're expecting it to be in this book you are A: going to be disappointed and B: not looking at things the right way.

They should really consider how much they want to cover in just 96 pages. IMHO, I sincerely doubt they can cover the time period of 1450 to 1950 AD with additional FX material.

I think you misunderstand me, but tell me if I'm wrong.

What I am saying is that when the website person at WotC starts a form to enter a new book into their schedule, it just says 96 pages on the default page and you edit it if the book is bigger.
So there will be more than 96 pages. Of course, this is pure speculation based on a dimly remembered past...

Personally, they should leave the page count and format at "TBA" (to be announced), especially if they're not sure at this point. To say they start with "96 pages" as default means the project is planned/outlined for a 96-page book.

In this case, don't use default minimum. Just "TBA."

I mean think about it. If hypothetically, they post the new D&D Fourth Edition Monster Manual in the product catalog, would you, a site visitor and customer, be disheartened by the default "96 pages" in the description?
