D20 Past Classes

I know that the D20 Past book was a hit and miss product (since it tried to do alot in such a small space). But I was wondering, what is the general consensis on the classes that were introduced in that book. Would they work well in a modern setting? Are they ballanced well against D20 Modern classes and Urban Arcana classes? Are any gimped? Is the Gangster really Overpowered?

Many felt the 96-page product didn't cover much. They felt it deserve the same 200-page treatment as d20 Future -- minus short cramped material.

The Explorer AdC can work in any modern settings.

They offered Shaman, Mesmerist, Spiritualist AdC for magic FX.

The Gangster might be overpowering due to Sneak Attack. Expect them to deal damage that would exceed Massive Damage Threshold more often and force their vicim to roll or drop to -1, especially with a firearms at point blank range (30 feet or less).

 

[Masquerade]

I briefly played a gangster in a d20 Modern occult investigation-type campaign and didn't detect any balance problems. It was a really fun character to play, though. ^_^
