if someone from Palladium happens to catch it being published online, a cease and desist will be sent relatively quickly. As much as I would love seeing a good D20 Rifts finalised, I would suggest removing it and only sharing it among friends. Just a friendly warning from someone who's dealt with Palladium before.

Yeah, Palladium is infamously hostile to fans who even think of converting to d20, and they sic their lawyers on them. They will threaten legal action over even a message board post talking about how to convert, and no, that isn't a joke.

I know more Palladium fans who gave up buying Palladium products upon being hit with a C&D letter than fans who still buy Palladium products. Ironically, I also know more people who play the RIFTS setting with homebrew d20 conversions than people who play it with the original system, but because of Palladium's attitude about conversions online, no two groups use the same rules for it.

Which is a testament to the stupidity of Palladium games...

Yes we know how Palladium works. I haven't purchased a product of their's in years, and the one I would probably purchase is a really defined and well done Rifts d20/OGL product.

I think the ironic thing is that if they were to do a real OGL/d20 Rifts product then it would save their butts. People would purchase that book plus a few of their other books just for the world information, and their sales would probably be higher than they have been in the last ten plus years... but until they can get their heads out of their butts and see the light, their financial woes will continue till they are bankrupt.

that's my theory anyways.

In any case, I dunno about the conversion. I think you'd be better off using d20 Modern & Apocalypse, adding in some stuff from whatever d20 books you can pull up, and throw in a mish-mash of D&D critters. Maybe add a "Spellcasting" occupation or talent, although maybe making a caster advanced class that can be taken at 2nd level would work, too.

Yep. Discussion of converting Palladium games to other systems (or converting things from other systems to Palladium games) is verboten and, if they can still afford legal counsel after the "Crisis of Treachery", you'll hear about this straight from the source (sooner than later, I imagine).

[Edit: I'm not going to tell them about this conversion, nor the other one that I know about for my favorite freebie system, but somebody inevitably will. Best get it circulated while you can.]

Well, you know, of the 1.3 million dollars Palladium allegedly lost in the scam, they accepted a plea bargain from the perpetrator for a paltry $47,080.00 (3.6% of the alleged loss).

I assume the other $1,252,920.00 was made up in sales by fans that heeded their call.

I think it's brilliant, and might do the same some day.
