[d20F] Designing a spaceship from scratch?

Is it possible, with the rules in d20 Future, to design a spaceship from scratch? If so, can someone give me a step-by-step example?

I'm not talking about starting from one of the examples given (e.g., "start with the Battleship, swap in this and take that out"). I'm talking about choosing a hull, putting in the components, and coming up with something new...

I don't believe its possible using only the core book. Someone may have come up with a system that does it though.

In the mean time you could just make up your own by picking a hull size, choosing hitpoints and the like based on other designs of the same size and adding the weapons, armour and engines that you like to it.
 

Unfortunately, building a ship frm scratch using the standard rules is almost an exercise of pick a size, add hit points and best equipment from tech level to taste. Thats why for most of the ship designs we publish we concentrate mostly on the background and plans of the ships.

We can only hope that a future release builds on the ship building rules.
 

You could modify the rules from the Star Wars RPG (namely Starships of the Galaxy, which has rules for designing ships including cost, time to build it, etc).
 

I'd really like to replace the Future rules with modified Alternity: Warships rules. Mostly because it had a very detailed system for putting stuff into ships ... how much space does a hangar take up for 1 fighter? 10? What about external fighter clamps? Point Defense? Anti-Missile decoys? Missile storage?

I guess, for me, a big ship like a cruiser you want to KNOW these things. I'm interested in a military style game and every ship is a collection of HP and 2 weapons. Uninspiring.

This is more or less what I want as well. I want the detail of Warships at least, although not the complexity necessarily.
