D20M: Dragon in a Bottle

Fake Baby Dragon

This would be an interesting way to put dragons in a D20 Modern campaign, if one was so inclined. A fake baby dragon that was part of an old hoax is found in a garage. Someone buys it as an oddity, but later it is discovered that the fake dragon contains real dna.
Insert Jurassic Park style scientific explanation and voila, science recreates dragons that supposedly never existed.
What kind of havoc you let them wreak upon the modern world is up to you.

Sounds cool, but why not just have dragons in your D20 Modern campaign as an assumed reality? Why all the pseudo-scientific mumbo-jumbo? ;)

Why not?

It all depends on how your campaign is set up, what kind of world it is.
This should all be self explanatory. Free your mind. :)

Edit: Oh, and welcome to the boards.

Heh heh...good point. I actually like the pseudo-scientific stuff. I was a big fan of Gamma World before Sword & Sorcery slaughtered it.

Oh, and thanks for the welcome. :D I'm lovin' enworld. It sure beats the hell out of google groups. [brrrrrrr]

To my knowledge no one has proven the dragon to be a hoax.

I guess if we wanted to really play the scientific game, we could say, "We don't *know* that dragons aren't real..."

According to Castle Falkenstien, there are rare species of animals that have learned how to sense and use magic to their advantage, sort of like how homing piegoen were supposed to use natural magnetic fields as landmarks on how to get home.

In that game world, dragons were a species of flying dinosaur that reached sentinece and used magic (or psionics) to save themselves from the mass extiction.

An offshoot of their mental powers is that they can glean the memories of their ancestors when they touch the same object their ancestors touched. So dragons horde not because they are greedy, but because it gives them access to the wisdom of their forefathers.

viola, a SF dragon
