I recently picked up the old TSR GangBusters game over on EBay - the rules and a couple of modules. The basic rules contain a great map of one city ward covering approximatley 650 by 1000 feet of the city with around 80 buildings. Tom Moldvay's excellent module GB1 "Trouble Brewing" provides detailed descriptions of many of these buildings and around 200 NPC's. Collectively, this is perfect to use as a basis for an extended campagin.
The rules themself are only so-so and I think I'd be much better off using D20 Modern for the rule system for the game. I'll probably run this as a Play-by-Post game. I'm initially thinking that most of the Playing Characters would be either law enforcement, private investigators and/or reporters, not necessarily working together at first but all with one central contact.
I was wondering if any of you have had any successful D20 Modern Chicago gangland type games set in the late 1920's/early 1930's and if you have any tips and suggestions.
