D500 Screen name= plot devices

Stone Angel

First Post
I was thinking of various peoples screen names and wondered if anyone had ever used this as hook or villain or magic item. So in the spirit of the 500 series I ask you to make up an element that has to do with your screen name.

Mine will be:

1. The Stone of Angels. A single standing stone at the top of grants a patron you meditates there for one hour the benefits of a bless spell. There is actually more abilities the longer you meditate but that would require me to go and get my books and it is almost 5 in the morning so I will edit this later.

The Seraph of Earth and Stone

2) Mo' Ronalds- a small boy named Ronald in the local community reported massive pains along the left side of his body a fortnight ago. The next day, there were two of him. The day after that, 4. There are now over 8,000 Ronalds, and they're starting to become vicious.

Frostmarrow: A white dragon lays waste to an arctic fishing town killing everyone. Later on a wizard finds a piece of bone from the dragon at the razed location. The wizard enspells the piece of bone and creates an intelligent, spine-shaped, Frostbrand-scimitar and names it Frostmarrow. Heroes come across this magnificent weapon, unbeknownst of the sword's strong urge to reunite with the evil white dragon.

4. In an old campaign Ferox was a Druid NPC of mine. He has since gone off into the old growth forests to live with the White Bears (ancient white pines - kinda entish). Before he left, he gave one of the PCs the Ferox4, an amulet that protects vs. fire, cold, acid and electricity (absorbing first 10 points of damage from any of those attacks). Pretty powerful item.

He gave it away because he had just picked the new Ferox5 - you know, the one with sonic protection as well ....... ;)

6) Jolly Giant:

Wilderness encounter: The PCs come across a hill giant sitting in a field of wild flowers. He's grinning wildly, singing a childish little song (about little fluffy bunnies, if any of the pCs understand giant) and banging his club against the ground in rythm (more or less ;) ) with the song.

As the PCs draw nearer they realize he must be drunk or stoned (he's been eating "magic mushrooms"), because he doesn't seem to notice the party at all. He's just singing his little (bunny-)song and happily beating his club.

The PCs make spot checks and realize that with each smack of the club, he's killing another baby rabbit. If they disturb him in any way, he flies into a uncontrollable, mushroom-induced rage (like a lvl 1 barbarian, but with a -4 penalty to AC instead of -2).

7) Tsunami: a number of clerics and druids and such have predetermined a tsunami coming upon the town- but it's not natural. Something beneath the waves is summoning these tidal waves- can the characters find this infernal cause and stop it?

A squat, Dwarven wizard with a variety of fireball spells to choose from is Teflon Billy. He is a tactical (and meta-tactical) genius.

(or so KoDT would have us beleive) :)

An insane gnomish mage-engineer (is there any other kind?) has built a huge flying machine held aloft by a bladder full of beholder-buoyancy gas. He is demanding freedom for all the hamsters in the city or he will crash it into the city keep.

"Ottergame"

A group of evil druids are taking the forms of otters to watch people destorying a nearby river habbitat for lumber and water diversion. The druids kill the people doing the destruction, changing back into otters to watch for further danger. This has been going on for months, and the lord of the land who is trying to devolp it wants some answers.

In order to keep their actions secret, they refer to their group at the Ottergame.
