Daggers are AWESOME!

I don't have Races of the Wild or that other book with the racial substitution levels for halfling, but I vote for the Rogue/Swashy with Daring Outlaw. Perhaps add some halfling paragon levels for extra damage to thrown weapons.

What books are Shadow Jaunt and Assassin's Stance in?

The same book that the feats used to acquire them are in, of course. If you don't know which book a feat is in, WotC has an online feat directory that will tell you every official WotC-labeled feat and what book you can find it in.

So are folks converted to the True Faith of Dagger Jesus, or are there specific target numbers you'd like to see beaten? Like, damage vs. a couple of foes?

Well, the Devil's Advocate in me wants to ask:

What, specifically, about daggers makes them so awesome? As opposed to PrCs that have abilities that only work with daggers? The only build I see up there that wouldn't be at least as good with throwing axes are the ones that use the Invisible Blade PrC. That makes me ponder whether it should be "Invisible Blade is AWESOME" rather than daggers ;)

Dagger vs. Throwing Axe:

Dagger: 1d6, 19/x2, slashing or piercing
Throwing Axe: 1d6, 20/x2, slashing

Also, one of my builds is pure Rogue levels -- he can't use throwing axes.

The Dagger, a Simple weapon, is strictly better than the throwing axe (a Martial weapon).

Throwing axes don't get any benefit from the Shadow Blade feat, either.

Daggers are 1d4 damage, not 1d6, and your pure rogue build is also a pure melee build; short swords are strictly superior to daggers for melee excepting the slashing/piercing versatility.

For two weapon fighting, daggers and short swords are very similar choices. For (on average) the cost of 1 point of damage on average, you gain 1) the ability to do slashing damage as well as piercing [usefull against things like Zombies!] 2) a little extra utility if grappled or swallowed whole and 3) the ability to use it as a thrown weapon occasionally.

At some points in your career, it may also be significant that the dagger is cheaper to get in certain special materials.

I'd further state that if most of your damage is coming from things like skirmish or maneuvers, the (on average) one point of damage difference is insignificant.

The character I posted above will probably pick up some mundane shortswords, daggers, and a quarterstaff at low levels to keep his options open... but when it comes to spending money on weaponry, he's going to go with daggers.
