There is also Spell Accuracy, which lets you except squares from your Area/Close attacks. It's epic tier, though.

If your an eladrin, there's always the heroic feat in Arcane Power that lets you use your Fey Step on someone who foolishly wanders into your area of effect.

Twist the Arcane Fabric....
I had a Feylock Eladrin with that and Fey Switch and some other stuff. He fancied himself kind as half controller, half battlefield evacuator. It was a fun time. Highly reccomend the feat.
