At this point, the DOT doesn't envision that the V2V data would do anything more than sound an alert, rather than trigger the braking or steering systems. The DOT also said that the data would not be used to track drivers. "In fact, the system as contemplated contains several layers of security and privacy protection to ensure that vehicles can rely on messages sent from other vehicles and that a vehicle or group of vehicles would be identifiable through defined procedures only if there is a need to fix a safety problem," the DOT said.

That could be beneficial to the public. It could prevent high-speed chases that put in danger the lives (and property) of those unfortunate enough to be in the area.

As long as it keeps me from dealing with the other drivers in my State, I am all for it (2nd worst drivers in the US) but I don't think I would like my car talking out of turn about me, think it could cause some issues.

My Car: "Hello, mister police car, my driver is doing 67 in a 55 and has a tail light out."

Change its oil regularly, wash and wax it regularly, make sure it looks good ... Basically, treat it like a dog. Or a woman. Make sure you stay on its good side. Buy it nice accessories, take it out for long frives in the mountains.
