Daredevil Reviewed! [spoilers and so forth]

It certainly is kicking butt in the box office this weekend! Went beyond expectations (and Marvel's stock is rising because of it).

SPOILER

Elektra's apparent death is far too quick. Bullseye just beats her in about 30 seconds whilst Daredevil watches, barely able to move, but once she's dead, he's up and fighting and of course, he wins. It's all too predictable and easy. There's no imagination or reason for him not to get up earlier apart from "plot device." Ugh.

I agree!

First let me say that I really enjoyed the movie. Action scenes were cool, the characters were great (although I can't say I ever thought DD was as gritty and vengeful as they make him out to be in the film).

But, I thought the "fight" between Elektra and DD should have gone on a little longer. I wanted to see her really fight, and they don't really give us that. I thought Elektra & DD were closely matched (which is illustrated in the playground scene), and one can assume that he was holding back when she was fighting him on the rooftop.

At any rate, what bugs me is that she took a worse cut then Murdoch, got tossed across the rooftop, and still managed to crawl over to him before she died. He only mustered enough strength to get off his duff and fight once she was dead.

Silly, very silly.

One second he's talking about how his life is flashing before his eyes because he's dying, and then the next thing you know, he's doing backflips and kickin' Bullseye's butt. It was improbable, even for a comic book flick.

Otherwise, I enjoyed the movie. I thought Affleck did a great job being all gritty and dark, and Kingpin was great. I wished we saw Elektra fight more, but Bullseye was awesome.

Again, I would have to agree with you, that I would give it 3 out of 5 stars, meaning I enjoyed it and will buy it when it makes it's way to DVD. :D

DD set a new record for the Presidents Day holiday at $43.5 million, beating the three-day, $20 million debut of the Denzel Washington drama "John Q." last year. "Daredevil" also ranks as the No. 2 February opener of all time after 2001's "Hannibal" ($58 million).

Anyone else notice that the trial scene at the beginning was totally wrong? Matt Murdock is a defense lawyer. But he's defending a rape victim, which means he's actually *prosecuting* the rapist for the state. This pretty much sums up Daredevil for me. Vaguely entertaining but it stole much most of what made it interesting from other movies and was generally sloppy and careless about various plot details. Although I will say it was worth my money just for Bullseye. I wish he could've been in the film more.

I thought it was pretty good. The big gaping plot holes dose bothered me that much. I just pretend the priest guy casted heal on him. ;)

Overall the film was very dark, thus making it very different from most of the other marvel comics. And DD is a very human hero, with his own flaws and emotions.

Since wire-fu never really bother me that much, so the fighting scenes were pretty good.

O, and the part about the rain on Electra's face was very well done IMO, one of the best romance moments I have ever seen in a while.

I give it a 7 out of 10.

Saw it. Liked it. Will buy it on DVD.

It isn't the best superhero movie I've seen, but it's pretty good. And a pretty good superhero movie is worth buying, as far as I'm concerned.

And X2 looks awesome.

I liked it.

The only complaint I have is the end. shouldn't there have been some scenes between Daredevil fighting Bullseye and DD fighting kingpin. Maybe him tracking the KP down or something. The end kind of went boom, boom, boom. electra dies, dd fights bullseye, dd fights fisk. kind of quick. You need something to interupt the action.

My other complaint is the rating I think this was a PG13 movie.
I saw many young (under 10) kids there. If I werre a parent I might have been upset at some of the violence. You can have it but call it an 'R' movie. But I have no kids of my own so It does not really matter to me.

where was Miller? i missed him! (i caught the other two, and the name dropping...)

i did think the electra vs DD and electra vs bullseye fights could've been longer...and the first fight scene in the pool hall was a bit too dark - it was hard to see what was going on

I read where Miller was playing a corpse. So I think he was the stiff in Fisk's office with the pensils in his throat. That is really the only one he could have been, as he obviouly could not have been the old lady on the plain and it seems unlikely he was the English Pub guy who Bullseye paper-clipped.
