Dark Dungeons Movie - What Did You Think?

I own a DVD copy of it. It has been pretty controversial. It's based on a tract written by fundamentalist Christian Jack Chick, that was released back in the mid 1980s. The biggest reason that it's so controversial is that they played it completely straight, in making the movie. It's effectively written in Chick's voice. If you're Chick, or one of similar mind, then you could easily see him doing a speaking tour on the back of the movie. If you're a gamer then you're quite likely to roll your eyes or even chuckle at the over-the-top nature of it. Apparently when first screened, in front of a con crowd, they were laughing out loud.

In short your own views will inform your opinion of it. I enjoyed it and laughed my arse off.

This movie is full of lies. I've played D&D many times and never managed to summon demons or cast spells. WotC never wanted to reimburse me for the false advertizing.

You clearly never made it to eighth level and became an initiate of The True Power.

Exactly, which was alluded to in the various interviews I've heard/read on the movie, including the recent conversations at ZOECon last weekend.

The original tract was a couple of dozen panels so they writer had to mine other tracts, in order to flesh the story out enough to fill a reasonable length movie. They had a religious adviser to insure that the proper tone was maintained. it was played absolutely straight to the material that Chick has produced and also referenced points made in other tracts, and in online discussions from the attached message board.
