Calling all fans of Phantasy Star Online and fellow monster builders!
I decided to have a go at converting one of my favourite video game bosses to 4E. I'd love any feedback you folks can offer.
I've designed the stages with a clear flow in mind, reminiscent of the game.
Stage 1, the first imperfect form, is about high damage from lots of different sources. The players should feel overwhelmed.
Stage 2, the form of elemental mastery as I call it, changes the dynamic from up-close-and-personal to a battle with artillery. Many of the monster's multi-attacks are removed in favour of area attacks. It should make the fight less overwhelming, and lure the PCs into a false sense of security before the final stage.
Stage 3, the perfect form, is about panic. Divine Shield means players will have to work to find their openings, while massive damage and certain death should keep them on their toes. It should feel like Falz is doing everything in its power to take down its opponents. I've found in epic play people rarely die, so Megid is there as a mechanism to bring Epic Destiny abilities into play.
Any thoughts?
