(Dark Heresy) Had a crazy idea for a Space Marine campaign.

The question of what killed the Norn Queens in the first place still remains, but its perfectly fitting for the 40K universe for it to be a mystery. Especially considering that something powerful enough to do that in the 40K universe is almost certainly not Imperial in origin.

I like the idea of the Necrons as a polar opposite and arch enemy of the Tyranids. With the Tyranids everything they have/use is living... every ship, weapon, round of ammunition. That said, the Necrons would take it upon themselves to eradicate every piece of Tyranid equipment and technology.

Well in between blaming the C'Tan for EVERYTHING short of Kennedy's assassination, the Necron Codex hints very strongly that the 'Nids were the nightmarish last-ditch weapon the Old Ones turned loose against the Necrontyr.

As is the one that they immediately regretted because they realised that by doing that, they'd signed the death warrant for every last living thing in the galaxy. Which is why the Necrontyr abandoned their flesh and found themselves dead worlds to entomb themselves on, so that when the Last Weapon left, they would still remain to serve their Gods.
