Dark Legacies Player's Guide

Only took a year... ;)

Thanks Joe for the indepth review. As you mentioned, the Campaign Guide is due out shortly, scheduled for release next month, and includes complete background info, rules for items of power, etc. In the meantime, there is a lot of support material on our forums http://forums.redspirepress.com as well as an art gallery showing how beautiful this book will be.

Cheers. :)

I've been reading about Dark Legacies for a while now, and this review covers much of what I still had questions on. Thanks Joe.

I really like the idea of taint and corruption associated with magic, but the system that supports it seems rather harsh and actually will discourage anyone from playing an active "arcane" caster in a campaign. Which in turn seems to limit the game to a very low (no ?) magic setting.

This is going to make Dark Legacies a hard sell to my players. Low magic is one thing, but no-magic is another.

Hi Devyn. There's a really simple solution to that. Either you can increase the taint thresholds or not use taint at all. The same is said of demonic items of power in the Campaign Guide, all of which bestow negative side effects on the wielder. In this case, there are a number of mundane side effects that can be used instead. Very easy to house rule such things. :)

or improved snipping ability,

...Insert circumcision joke here...

The word you want is "sniping". I think you're suffering from carless (i.e. lacking a car) disregard for spelling. ;)

Now that's funny. You actually had me frantically flipping through my copy of the Player's Guide to find the typo. Then I realized the typo was Joe's alone. PHEW! :)
