D&D 4E Dark sun 4e

Good point. Still bothers me. If we're going to do it that way, a level 8 fighter with a 22 STR is stronger (both in terms of stats and Athletics) than a level 1 half-giant.

Still seems off. But I agree that helps a lot.

Yes, a level 8 fighter IS better than a level 1 half-giant.

That's also how it should be.

All things being equal, a half-giant should beat out an otherwise equivalent human.

All things being equal, the words 'half-giant' on your character sheet shouldn't mean such an advantage that you can never be bested by anything without the 'half-giant' trait.

It's not like the words 'dragon king.' 'Half-Giant' shouldn't be the I win button of Athas. Just really good. And they are really good. And that's good enough.

I'm also fine with muls not having regeneration from their Constitution, or thri-kreen not having immunity to illusions from Wisdom, or anyone not randomly having 'disintegrate' as a power, or any other artifact of the second edition game setting.

I was watching Fringe the other night and Peter Weller had a guest spot as someone who was able to travel thru time. When he appeared, the timeshift absorbed power and life out of nearby things...people in a subway train, grass in a field. When I saw the grass in a field get turned brown and dead I turned to my wife and said "He's a defiler!" heh.

Ok, that was my geekout moment for the day.

I had the exact same thought when i was watching that episode :) So, it's okay, you aren't the only one who needs some medication to suppress the geek in you ;)

I played the DS pre-release at DDXP with some of the designers. I loved all of it. I played a pre-generated defiling character and can indeed report that you get to do nasty things to empower your attacks/damage.

I've been looking forward to this release for a very long time and I hope to contribute to some DDI articles in the future that revolve around the setting.

Uh. cool!

I've heard that the RPGA campaign component did some final play testing of the initial mods and at several locations throughout the country ran 72 hour events with back to back mods taking only bathroom and food/water breaks.
