Dark Sun Game Day

Someone asked me what was with all the females in the pregens? I think it's 4 of the 6. I said "Can you really tell me what gender a thri-kreen is? Just reskin them, gender has no gameplay difference."

So, how did others go?

I turned up to the game store, after being assured that it was on, to find out that my efforts (of travel and baby-looking-after with my wife) were in vain, the guy at the desk had no idea what I was talking about. So thanks, Good Games Sydney, for sending me on that wild goose chase, and eating up a whole chunk of time on my weekend...

We had at least 4 tables go off, which is a pretty light run for us. Usually we run 6-8 tables, I was quite surprised. I am going to have to promote Red Box and Gamma World a lot more to get more players into the store. Perhaps even a raffle for a copy of the game.

We ran two tables of four players each at Good Games Ballarat. Mostly with players new to D&D. :)

The adventure would have been far better with more roleplaying/puzzle solving in it. The Game Day adventures tend to be entirely too much combat.

Cheers!

Admittedly, it was a Dark Sun game day, and Dark Sun is hardly everyone's cup of tea. I know I'm not particularly fond of the setting.

Cheers!

While I wasn't organizing this Gameday, Guardian Games in Portland, OR ran 7 tables over two sessions on Sunday the 22nd.

We have a pretty robust D&D Encounters program there and the store actively promotes its game offerings via twitter, facebook, meetup and posters in the store.

I would say this was a good showing for Guardian. We usually have 5 to 6 full tables in the morning and maybe 2 to 3 in the evening.

Cheers,

I really like the idea of Dark Sun, and was hopign to get along to see what they did with the adventure.

Sadly, that didn't happen.

Though someone from GG, after apologising for the misleading information, noted that they had copies left over of the game (well, they should have, after not running it at the Sydney store!), and offered to send me one out. Strangely, 12 hours later, they were once again out of stock...
