Dark Sun Question

Probably not, but it is my understanding that Dark Sun (and a few other D&D campaign settings) has been released by WOTC. There are now fans that are working hard to come up with good, playtested rules. Check out athas.org, they've done a very good job in my opinion.

Of course, it'll take a while to flesh the whole thing out but I'm looking forward to the completed result.

Yes, that site is doing a good job, but it doesn't seem to discern if there will actually be an official release, or if it is just a webpage revising rules. Although I think athas.org is doing a great job, I would like an official release.

There's been rumors around here that someone (possibly AEG) bought the rights to release a Dark Sun 3e rulebook but I haven't heard anything solid.

The stuff coming out of Athas.org is looking very good. I don't like a few of the things they've done, like not using monks, but that is easily corrected.

well Thri-Kreen are in monster manual 2, so hopefully thats a start, but the Face/ reach entry on them was left out  whats up with that?

Until someone buys the DS license, the only "official" release of Dark Sun is at athas.org. There won't be a print version of the rules there, because we don't have a budget, and can't make money from the rules we post there. Our agreement with Wizards prohibits us from making money from DS.

How much is the Dark Sun license worth to Wizards of the Coast, considering they're not using it at all right now?
