Dark Sun: Where are the Fans?

First Post
I started my major D&D gaming in the early 90's with Dark Sun. I totally loved the setting and can't wait for the Psionics rules to get released for 5e so I can start running conversions.
What do you all love about the setting Dark Sun?

Does anyone know if there has been a 5e conversion of the Psionics rules at all?

The official Unearthed Arcana stuff is tackling psionics currently, so I would be surprised if there are overly many psionic homebrew conversions right now.

As for my own response: although my only exposure to Dark Sun is through the 4e version (which, at least among 4e fans, was very well-received), I really did like at least the idea behind the Defiling/Preserving mechanic, even if it was somewhat weak compared to the original version. DS4e also introduced Themes, which I think were a great addition to 4e's mechanics.

I have tooled around with the 1st Edition Psionics, converting them into 5e compiant powers. Using this, I test ran a Wild Talent Human Wizard in a one shot. Unfortunately it made him insanely over powered at first level.

I always enjoyed how the scarcity of otherwise commonplace resources such as water or even metal completely changed the way PCs had to think and act, and how the very environment was a challenge (sometimes quite literally, considering an oasis can be a predatory beast).

It's been years since I've played in Athas, though. The boxed set is taunting me from the shelves right next to where I'm sitting.

I quite liked the setting and the way it upended the traditional D&D world.Mad Max D&D, sign me up!

For my part, 2e’s real strength and legacy is the diversity of the different campaign settings, most of which were extremely creative.
