Darkness Domain

Is it just me, or is there more then one version of the Darkness Domain?
There's a version in the Realms book, BoVD and D&DG. They all have different spells. Has this been addressed anywhere?

I was wondering the same thing yesterday when looking through the BoVD.

Add to the list all the custom versions that people made before any of these ones came out (I have one imc, for instance).

Yeah, there are. I changed the Darkness domain in BoVD to "Vile Darkness" (yeah, yeah, I know). I don't use D&DG.

Well, it's because of the honorable desire to not have a crossover where you have to buy one book to make use of the other.

So the answer is:

The FR darkness domain is for the Forgotten Realms
The D&Dg darkness domain are for thoe who worship the gods in there that grant it.
The BoVD darkness domain are for those who worship the planar lords of wickedness.

It helps give them something of a unique feel.

If you want to include them all, just stick to their usual limitations (maybe using the FR Darkness as the "generic" darkness), and you should be fine. Heck, it'd even bring out some cultural differences....

That's how I would handle it, anyway.
