Dar'radu

First Post
I need help with a race of supernatural being I am working called the Dar'radu.

Below is a description of what one of them looks like.
Proteus is a humanoid without any gender that stands twelve feet tall. Its muscular body is covered in gnarled, bony plates that are the sand-colored. The head is attached to a long flexible neck. On the top of its head is a monstrous crown of horns. Growing out of the forehead is a pair of large, thick, monstrous segmented horns that curve backwards. The back corners of its skull have an enormous pair of backward-pointing spikes that are six inches long; these are surrounded by three smaller spikes. It has five eyes. Two eyes are set on short flexible eyestalks. The two eyestalks can bend to look up, down and backwards without moving its head. Three eyes are located in the center of its forehead. His eyes are solid luminous, sulfuric yellow orbs. It has two vertical slits for a nose. The shoulders have four large spikes on them. Rising from his back are three pairs of large, hooked bony protrusions that are sand-colored. These bony protrusions pointed downward. Its arms end in massive three feet long serrated blades of bone. Growing out of both elbows is a backwards curving bony protrusion. The sixteen feet long semi-prehensile tail is thick and long, tapering to a thin whip and a point like that of an iguana's tail. The tail, which ends in six sharp spikes, is covered in bony plates that are sand-colored. Its leg structure is in the manner of a goat's hind legs and they terminate in large feet with four clawed prehensile toes. Both of its knees have a large, bony protrusion that is sand-colored. A backwards curving bony protrusion that is sand-colored protrudes from his heels.

Dar'radu are supernatural being that are native to desert dimension that has a climate similar to that of the the Gobi.

Right now I know that Dar'radu are immune to all diseases, poisons, and toxins. I know they have the natural ability to shape change into one human form which once selected is the form they always assume when they assume human form. Should they be able to assume the form of one humanoid instead of a human? Would it better for them to able able to assume any humanoid form they want to? What other abilities and powers do think they should have.

As supernatural being should be of the Outsider or Aberration Type? Do see them having the Shapechanger Subtype?

How do I got about figuring out their stats?

It has to be abberation, and it has to be shapechanger :p

(there is no rule about that, but its kinda obvious)

What CR you want it to be?

Are Dar'radu physically or magically strong?
Are there many of them?
Do they band together or are they solitary?
Are they feared?
Are there legends or myths about them?

Answer these questions on the fly, and I'll right up a stat block for you.

-an outsider (seeing as it comes from another plane)
-shapechange into any one humanoid, preferably either the first it sees or one it makes a sort of soul/psychic connection to (size small to medium)
-from the sound of it +4 natural armor or DR and an immunity to heat
-try balancing it a bit with a vulnerability to cold damage
-maybe high strength and constitution with low dexterity
-a natural attack from of about 2d6 piercing damage from tail
-size medium or large
-alertness from the eyes
-any speed from 15ft to 50ft
-a +4 bonus to hide in deserts
all of these are just suggestions and are in the mindset of 3.5e
BTW: is it a monster or a race?

Their home dimension is made of a supercontinent with the interior of this supercontinent being a semi-arid desert prone to temperature extremes (think of the Earth during the Permian Period).

Their ability to shape change into a human form is a natural ability. I give them that ability to make up for the fact they do not have any hands. I also give then prehensile feet to make for the fact they have no hands. Should I give them feet that are adapt more for walking on desert sand instead of the prehensile feet? What other abilities should they?

Do you see them as being at least partially composed of the essence (but not necessarily the material) of some plane other than the Material Plane? If you do then they would fit the meaning of being of the Outsider type.

Dar'radu are a race of physically strong supernatural beings. Their serrated blades of bone do 2d6 points of damage.

There are legends and myths about them. Some of the myths and legends about the Dar'radu go back to the time when human civilizations first appeared.

They can be of any alignment.

If they band together they band together in a group of up ten Dar'radu.

I have been thinking they are immune to fire and heat. Do you think they should a damage reduction? If you think they should have damage reduction then what should the DR be then?

A Dar'radu gains the ability to travel to other dimensions when it reach three hundred years old. So should they have the ability to planeshift at will or once per day?

Should they have a bonus to hide while in desert setting?
