Dastardly Spellgaunt attack...

Wellby

First Post
Just want to make sure this is correct, as it could be so devastating...

Gnome Illusionist is wearing the Spidersilk from Expedition to the Demonweb. Nearby Barbarian is carrying the Demon-Quelling Sword.

Spellgaunt is eyeing their approach, scanning for highest aura.

a) if you happen to have the 3.5 Demonweb adventure book, which of the two would have the higher aura in the eyes of the Spellgaunt? a sometimes +5 sword, or something as special as the spidersilk armour, a Weapon of Legacy, artefact-like? (or is it an artefact? a one off after all)

b) say the Spellgaunt goes for the Gnome's Spidersilk. I imagine this is a sunder of a worn item? Gnome gets an AoO, but even if he hits, Spellgaunt gets to continue? and attacks vs: armour AC 10, with only the size and dex of the Gnome to add to that? So, if the Spellgaunt gets close enough, a VERY likely chance that the spidersilk will fail the DC, be destroyed (but as sweet justice, maybe the monster dies from magic indigestion). Finally, what is the DC of Spidersilk?

thanks!

Which version are you speaking of? I recall RAW stating that worn armor cannot be sundered. (Never made sense to me, but the DM I was gaming with played it as it was read.)

Edit: Semantics- you can't sunder a worn item, but you can attack it directly. Attack roll (provokes AoO) vs AC of 10 plus size mod plus wearing characters dex mod.

You're right, and this helps me out later. XP What I've seen in my quick google fu (away from books at the moment) is that Spidersilk has a strength similar to steel.
