From Hell wasn't that bad...
What i would like to see is a V For Vendetta movie. Good, early Allen Moore, not as deep as Watchmen or as unadaptable as League, great movie material.

as for watchmen, It's way too complex to possibly be made into a good film. and it's going to suck, just like from hell for much the same reasons.

I'm going to stick my neck out here and say that I think it can be done as a movie (although it had best be closer to 3 hours than 2). Sure, you'd miss some of the detail, but I think you could still convey the gist of the graphic novel. The key to the whole thing is the casting the Rorshock character, and to have him do narration throughout the movie. I think you really need someone with the intensity of a John Malkovich or Gary Olman to do that part justice. I don't think they have to change the ending to get the PG-13 rating either, Hitchcock always managed to convey very graphic scenes and ideas without having to fully show them.

One of my friends and I have had some quite lengthy discussions on casting, and I can't recall all the actors we mentioned, but here's a few:
Rorshack: Edward Norton (think American History X)
Night Owl II: Nicolas Cage (think Adaptation, just slightly less neurotic)
Ozymandias: ???
Dr. Manhatan: Extremely hard to cast, but maybe Tom Hanks? or (just for physical similarity) Arnold Shwartzeneger?

I think AHX is a terrible way to think of rorshach... he's kinda weedy, not a buff skin. He's also older than norton. I'd say malcovich or possibly even kevin spacey.

These weren't ment as actuall casting recommendations/hopes, just some funny thoughts we came up with. Ozymandias and Dr. manhatan are so hard to cast we just had fun with them. Night Owl and Rorshach are slightly serious, I actually think they would fit.
