DDI Changes - PH3 Previews! New price

I'm not too enthused about the PH3 early access; when the first PH3 content hits DDI we will have had PH2 for all of four months. I feel like I'm hitting my saturation point in that new material - mainly in the form of new races and classes as opposed to new material to increase options for existing races and classes - is coming out faster than we can play it.

I'd much prefer having the power source books released in early segments in this manner so that we'd have a constant stream of new options for existing characters.

I have no gripes about the price hike, though. It's still a good deal.

I hope it doesn't get frustrating :0) That they don't release a piece of a class or feats that needs a keyword or something undefined (summoning, I'm looking at you). It's a tough line to walk... but I imagine it'll work out. I hope they keep doing this though, I'd hate for PH3 to come out and then nothing until PH4 and I'm a sad little guy.

I wonder what the gameplan is after PH4 (2011), focus on maybe a modern/future incarnation? Alternity 2E (4E)?

Okay, now that I've addressed the direct questions I wanted to get in here and post a link to the thread I started on the Wizards forums earlier today. Here it is.

Now I only linked my original post - the threads gotten pretty numerous and there's no reason you guys should have to jump in there and wade around to find your answers. I've tried to update that first post with information that focuses the most popular questions/concerns we've been recieving.

I'm probably not going to be around all night to help people, so I wanted to point people at that post in case it helps.

Can you extend more than one year at the current price???

Not at this time. The system may allow you to extend for more than one subscription term, but this will be corrected on the back end and you will be refunded for any extensions beyond the first one.

I'm both surprised and excited! I certainly hope a few of these tasty PH3 previews will be of some classes - I want more psionics!

The price hike is no deal at all. With the shift in article orientation meaning we're getting more content it's understandable.

I'm pretty sure they will be, but we'll know more when Bill's next Ampersand article hits.

I'll take this to mean two things:

1. DDI is a phenomenal success
2. Books aren't selling as well as expected

A third thing can be sort of deducted - they need more money NOW, and their need is sufficiently great to force them to ruin the sales of one flagship product (PH3) a year in advance in order to push another flagship product (DDI).

Seriously, how many people will actually buy PH3 if complete parts thereof will be available on DDI (and, consequently, on pirate sites) for a year or so?

I was going to be buying a copy of the PH3 regardless of the early content release. This is just icing on top of the PH3's Psionic cake since I'll be able to use Psionics that much sooner. Plus I prefer a physical copy for reading at my leisure.
