$: Yes, this is about them getting some money in, and not having the pretty successfull intro of the books get completely wiped out by DDI cost overruns. And thats ok.
Compendium: Not many people have mentioned this. Right now this is fun to play around with--its good if you want to see all ranger powers modified by wisdom, or all magic items that resist poison, stuff like that--but could be a major ap if it is expanded and updated.
Free? Setting aside the print magazines (there is no question mistakes where made...) Online Dungeon and Dragon have more, a lot more, then the free stuff the site used to have. And I also suspect they are on a learning curve, quality should continue to increase. Especially if there are $s attached.
