DDI Online tools, do they work on Mac?

I'm a PC user but about to switch to Mac I think . Do the character builder and the monster tool work on Mac? I would assume the CB to do so as it is web based, but the Monster generator is a download still.

The new tools work with Mac. The old monster generator I believe is the old application--and thus won't work on Mac. Once everything is ported over to the new DDI, Mac will work just fine.

This matches with what I've heard- the new DDI works on Mac platform, but the original character builder didn't work. They've spent a fair amount of time talking about it on the Critical Hit podcast...

Aren't there apps that will allow you to export your characters at least? I doubt WotC will allow all the functionality of the compendium, etc. to go to iPad after their issues with piracy of the resources they had previously published as pdfs.

There's iPlay4e, and a free Compendium app, but I'd like something to access the compendium offline and an option to actually build/consult characters that works on all platforms. :)

The issue is Silverlight support. Anything with a GOOD SL plugin will work. It has to be a real MS SL though, the Mono based stuff (Moonlight) isn't even close to compatible enough to run CB (or anything else really). Macs have a real SL client, so they work for the online stuff. Android and iPad/iPhone/iPod etc are no-go at the moment. There's always hope some of these platforms will get first-rate support, but with MS pushing Windows Phone 7 it is hard to say, they may just decide to leave the competing mobile platforms out in the cold. Conceivably WotC could build native clients for all these other platforms, but I wouldn't hold my breath. Nor would I hold my breath for Moonlight to advance to a point where it can run CB. Either of those could happen, but it is likely to be a few years.
