Dead Gelatinous Cubes

Yeah, I see it losing its structure, collapsing into an oozy mass. I hadn't thought about it with a "cottage cheese" consistency, but that sounds right.

Demiurge out.

That would certainly make removing them from your way after you kill them a more tricky proposition that with most monsters.
This was what I was wondering about. Kill a GC in a 10' wide corridor, and well, how to get past it?

I was in a game one time where a cube "divided" the party on either side of itself. We ended up using torches to burn it up so we could get back together.

No, but it is a big lump in the way.

Hmmmm. I wonder if one can bottle-up the goo and store it for later use. Free poisonous-acid, anyone? It'd be a better treasure gleaned from the thing than any random thingy stuck within it, methinks.

It gives a 10 minute dying speech, thanks its mum and dad for everything, does the Cha Cha, the Macarena and finally gasps "GOOD BYE CRUEL WORLD!" before exploding and spashing the PCs with green slime ala nicelodeon.

More seriously, I have them "melting", and becoming a large puddle of thick, sticky gelatine. It eventually dries up, and looks like clear spackle under that form. The acidic properties are lost pretty quickly from oxydation once exposed to air.

And I do picture them as having a thick membrane, that shields the fluider inside from oxydation. Slashing and piercing damage lets that inside leaks, and when enough has been lost, the outer membrane collapses, releasing the rest of the fluid.

I also like death throes for some sort of jellies... Conflagration ooze (MM3), for example, would always be of the death throes variety with me.
