Well, I wish Dead Reign: Dead Reign™ RPG (pre-order): Palladium Books Online

had the cover art of Apocalypse Z: Mongoose Publishing : For All Your Gaming Needs ...

I really liked reading The Zombie Survival Guide and World War Z. Dead Reign looks like the better game, but the tone evoked by the Apocalypse Z cover is awesome. Anyone know anything about Battlefield Evolution, for which Apoclayse Z is a setting?

Anyone know about either of these games?

I would highly recommend against pre-ordering the Palladium game. It looks cool, though given that many Palladium projects take years to get from pre-order status to print (if they ever get there), pre-ordering is a major crapshoot. To wit, the infamous Mechanoids Space. This book is in pre-order with no listed release date. . . despite first being announced in 1992.

Your money would be better spent on something like All Flesh Must Be Eaten (a zombie roleplaying game that is in print and available now) or the linked to Apocalypse Z supplement for Mongoose's Battlefield Evolution skirmish game (also available now).

That said, the Palladium game sure looks nifty. I'd snap it up in an instant, if it had already been published.

I like both covers - Dead Reign has shipped and I'll be checking it out. I'm really excited about it from all I have read. I'm still searching the web for some reviews. I'm more an RPGer than an miniature gamer (although I'm really close to pulling the trigger on Okko!).

Well, Dead Reign is palladium, so expect horrid editing and a cut and paste of the rules he's been using for almost 30 years now. Further expect that there will be a lot of really cool ideas with some decidedly hit and miss follow through.

You'll probably have a dozen or so O.C.C.s that all amount to 'modern human'. But there will be a different class for the former teacher, former cop, former slacker, former soldier, etc. The will probably be a psychic and/or magic OCC or two copied over from Beyond the Supernatural. And probably an RCC for a 'good zombie' PC.

On the bad guy side expect two dozen writeups for different types of zombies, and some really weird zombie masters/hideous tentacled space blobs. Probably there is more than one zombie faction.

It will probably be a lot of fun if you can find a group that likes palladium games. :)
