Well, I hope I understand what you said, but I think I do :D. It's the way of the grognard. Probably not the worst way at all :).

In my opinion, WOTC's producing better stuff than it has in years. GR and Mongoose, deapite the reduced market, is producing some of their best books ever. Then there's the indie scene, which is produciing games of all types and sizes, on nearly every conceivable subject.

Unfortunately, the d20 market won't support some genres. Overall, however, I don't think I've seen such a burst of raw creativity in RPGs since the early 80s.
