Death at WotC

Well, maybe DDI isn't sunk for good, but losing a senior project manager isn't going to get the project done any faster, and tends to derail these things. It certainly doesn't bode well for the project.

Which is a long way from saying that it isn't going to happen at all, which your first snide little post said.

As for being in poor taste: What you want me to do? Break down in tears because some people I don't know died? I didn't know these people, you didn't know these people, the vast majority of users here didn't know these people, there's little point in pretending we're all broke up about it. You may find my lack of maudlin tears in incredibly poor taste, which is fair, but by the same measure I find threads like these wear a bunch of people make a show of their public grieving for people they didn't know in incredibly poor taste.

Not knowing the people involved doesn't stop it being in poor taste. Frankly I don't care what your personal reactions are. Except you saw fit to post them to a thread and try to score a cheap point/laugh/whatever out of a tragic murder-suicide.

Just because you don't know the people involved, doesn't mean that someone who knows them isn't going to read this thread. Either way your post was in poor taste and your defense of it is nothing but typical internet toughguy talk.

Seriously, if we're not talking about how this affects DDI, then this is just a sick bit of misery tourism that has absolutely nothing to do with D&D or gaming.

If nothing else, you could give it a day or two before making such comments. People from WOTC are dealing with the loss of this person right now, and while some may not want to believe it, there are more important things in life than whether or not you'll get your little game aid. Seriously, if you don't have something nice or at least civil to say, silence is the best policy.

Gailbraithe: The purpose of a thread like this is to show that we are, as a community of gamers, real people who care about other members of the community. (Not just the ENWorld community but the entire group of gamers and game developers, too.)

Now, that is the purpose of this thread. If you would like to discuss the status of DDI... I would, personally, appreciate it if you did that elsewhere.

My condolences to the family.

A shame, a damned shame, and a double loss for gaming. :(

Obviously these senseless deaths are a shame, but also that the husband didn't (wouldn't? couldn't?) find help. It didn't have to be like this.

This is an awful waste: death sucks. Prayers for everyone involved.
