Death Dog: Playtested and results

Leopold

NKL4LYFE
3 2nd level pc's came upon the double barking of the death dogs. Here is how combat went.

Round 1

3 dogs charged the lead fighter. Hit him 3 times, failed all saving throws for fortitude (DC 20 is NASTY!). Fighter attacks one and cleaves it in half, goes for doggy 2 and misses.

Results: Fighter down 8 hp's and diseased 1 dog dead.

Round 2
2 dogs flank the fighter and attack 2 hits. Fighter rolls 2 more fort saves (not neccessary but they don't know what they are and I must keep them on their toes!!). Fails again and takes more damage. Fighter, Ranger, and Cleric take the 2nd one down (16hps and the fighter wields a great sword with a 20 str, megadamage!)

Results: Fighter down another 10 hp's, still diseased and 2 dogs dead.

Round 3

Last dog attacks the Cleric that hit him and manages NOT to disease him. Party anhilitates doggy.

Result: Cleric down 4 hp's, fighter spitting blood, 3 dead dogs.

End of Combat Summary
EL 4 and I managed to punish the pc's with these monsters. Not bad critters if i have to say so myself, the HP's are just right, the attack seems natural, and the DC for Disease is HIDEOUS!!! PC's wasted a 1000gp amulet (they can't do appraise too well!) to cast remove disease but by then 2 days had gone by and the Fighter was down to 8 Con! They were sweating but still have no idea what kind of creatures they are even though they try to peak at my laptop.

Good job on the conversion, I will use it again in my Night Below campaign!
