D&D General Deborah Ann Woll Teaches Jon Bernthal D&D

If you think D&D is getting too much space on ENWorld, start threads discussing the games YOU like.

Sure, this isnt a 'me' issue, I'm just offering a more balanced perspective on the questions being asked. Between OSE, DCC, Shadowdark, Black Sword Hack, and more seemingly every week, I've got more than enough alternatives to poke at and (once my life is returned to me in 1.5 weeks) build towards my own take on a game/setting/hobby, that is not controlled by a corp.

*Numbers are approximate, yet also completely accurate.

Thing is, that's entirely true. There's a difference between accuracy and precision. Accuracy is about how correct the measure is, while precision is about how granular the measure is.

So, 3 is an accurate, but imprecise, approximation of Pi.
Meanwhile, 4.1415 is an inaccurate, but more precise, approximation of Pi.

I think you might be misunderstanding me. I don’t think she shouldn’t have said it or shouldn’t have expressed that passion. I just don’t think the feelings of people who had a visceral negative reaction to hearing it are invalid, or that those people are “super weird” for expressing those feelings here. Isn’t that what forums like this are for? To express our thoughts and feelings about roleplaying games?

It’s ok to disagree with the sentiment that “D&D is the greatest game ever created,”

If it had been expressed as disagreement, nobody would have cared. It was not expressed as disagreement. He made various personal attacks on her for expressing her opinion. First, that she was intentionally engaging in hyperbole, though she was not and the context made it clear it was not. Second, that she was either a shill for WOTC or saying those things to try and get a job from WOTC, though there is zero evidence to support that claim and plenty of evidence in the video that's not her motivation.

That's not disagreement. That's frankly toxic, and it shouldn't be defended as just disagreement. Not all opinions are equally valid. When an opinion sinks to personal attacks because of disagreement over something which isn't personal, that's not a valid opinion. It's right that people call it out for the personal attack it was, and state it crossed the line from mere disagreement to toxic personal attack.
