[December] What are you reading?

The Artist, the Philosopher, and the Warrior - A really interesting book so far about the time in 1502 when Leonardo Da Vinci, Machiavelli, and Cesare Borgia met and worked together. I'm not far in so far but it's good. Really good.

This sounds fascinating to me. Please let me know if it holds up through the end as a good read.

The Snakhead - Utterly engrossing nonfiction book about how a grandmother who ran a Chinese restaurant became the leading figure in human smuggling. You can read the original New Yorker article here: A Reporter at Large: The Snakehead : The New Yorker

Starting on Boneshaker, but the brown font really annoys me. It really adds nothing to the book.

I'm reading Memories of Ice by Steven Erikson and Lamentation by Ken Scholes. Both are so good that I find it hard to focus entirely on one at the other's expense.

Today I finished reading the Blindside which was a good football book and much more inforamtive then I was expecting. I just started HP Lovecraft's Favorite Weird Tales which is a collection of horror short stories picked based off what Lovecraft himself said he though were the best in letters he wrote.

Finished Boneshaker (steampunk with a dash of zombies!) which I enjoyed. Next is probably The Girl Who Played with Fire.

I've been re-reading a bunch of Charles de Lint of late ... and I have an Advance Read Copy for Robert Harris' Conspirata, second in his Cicero trilogy. Cicero has always struck me as a pretentious, ambitious, overly-wordy windbag with delusions of kingmaker-hood, so I'll see if this book at all changes my mind ;)

I just finished Bernard Cornwell's The Last Kingdom, and am starting Jack McDevitt's The Devil's Eye, the fourth (I think) of his Alex Benedict far-future archaeological mystery space books.
