December: What are you reading?

About half way through Robert R. Reilly's [ame=http://www.amazon.com/Closing-Muslim-Mind-Intellectual-Islamist/dp/1933859911]The Closing of the Muslim Mind[/ame]. Not sure what to read next, except that I do have to reread The Hobbit, as it is the next novel my 5th graders will be studying.

Also received the first two books in Del Toro and Hogan's The Strain trilogy. Best part so far: The vampires don't sparkle in sunlight or abuse high school girls with self-esteem issues.

Finished up Cold Magic. Rocky start, but overall I rather enjoyed the book.

Once again, through sheer coincidence, I've found that the book I just read was recently-published, and there's no telling when the next in the series will come around, so I find myself floundering for something else to read.

Was going to go with the new Warcraft novel, The Shattering, but forgot to update my (wifi-only) Kindle before leaving the house this morning.

So I've started reading Paradise War by Stephen R. Lawhead. Picked it up because it was free for the kindle as a backup for situations where I didn't have anything else to read.

Only read the first chapter and a half or so. Story hasn't really started going anywhere, but I'm finding myself amused by the sheer Britishness of the writing.

Read Good Omens and Cook's Passage at Arms. Talk about mood whiplash. :)

I think I"m going to read Black Blade Blues next, by J.A. Pitts.

I was working on the collected original works of Conan the Barbarian earlier in December.....but I received Shadowheart, the fourth and concluding volume of Tad Williams' Shadowmarch series as a Christmas gift from my wife, and just blew through it.

*Awesome* book, and a great end to the series. A little disappointed about the endings for a few characters, though in many ways they *are* fitting.
