Deck of Many Things, changing alignments and a negative level

You don't have to draw cards from the deck, right?

So is it really the DM's fault, or not rather the player's? ;)
I like the deck of many things in RttToEE, as that one is operated by a creature rather than just lying around. This creature will likely at least hint at the fact that the deck can work profound changes on you.

If they all draw the void, have them make new characters who are friends and relatives of the original characters. These new characters then find the "voided" PCs and set out to get them back. Maybe they even draw a few cards too.

Or you could just have the voided psyches adventuring. Imprison them all in the same place, and voila.

I cannot emphasize enough how much I *despise* The Deck.

My players are safe from it, barring some *very* special circumstances.

It really is nothing more than a campaign killer placed in the game for cruel reasons.

(And if you would argue that that statement is incorrect--then give me *one* case--just *one*--where The Deck proved beneficial overall to the party. And then give me *one* time--just *one*--where the GM had a good reason to include it that didn't involve rubbing his hands together and snickering evilly--even if just internally.)
