Define Spell: Horrid Wilting

Sarcoth

First Post
The spell states as follows:

Targets: Living creatures, no two of whom can be more than 60 ft. apart.

Description: This spell evaporates moisture from the bodies of all the subject living creatures, dealing 1d8 points of damage per caster level (max 25d8).

There is more, but that's the part I need help with. The group was split last night on exactly what is considered a subject.

Some thought you pick a type of creature or creatures, and only those within the range are effected. Others thought that you pick a target, and everything within the range of the spell (friend or foe) is effected.

Thanks!

Neither interpretation is correct. The spell description doesn't require the caster to specify a type of creature, e.g. humanoid, giant, aberration, etc.. Nor does it say "all living creatures in a 30 ft. radius burst."

Rather, the caster selects any number of targets; the targets must be living, and no two of them can be more than 60 feet apart.

You can cast it on a melee and spare your friends. But if your friends are fighting undead (or constructs), you won't accomplish much.

Hope this helps.
