Defining a decade with a movie: 1980s

This was the hardest of the decades for me to pick just one from - too much good stuff. Amadeus, ST II, ST III, Empire Strikes Back, ROTJ, Gremlins, Say Anything, Labyrinth, Highlander, G.I.Joe The Movie. I'll take THEM ALL, and you can't stop me. Bwah ha ha ha ha!

St. Elmo's Fire.

It gave us the "look at all the cute, young white people" mentality prevelant in 80's culture. It gave us the "brat pack" with the like of Rob Lowe and Demi Moore. It was a movie that truly defined how people viewed others in the 80's.

Rainbow Brite and the Star Stealer ;)

Beverly Hills Cops totally rocks socks. *hums the theme* :D

But, it pales in comparison to Ferris Bueller's Day Off.

I'm inclined to agree about St. Elmo's Fire and your assessment of '80s culture, but I went with The Big Chill, just 'cause the narcissism of the boomers confronting adulthood resonated more broadly and had a bigger impact than that of the college kids coming of age at the same time.
