The Breakfast Club took itself waaaaaay too seriously. Teen angst is fo suckas, yo.
Better off Dead was far better, in writing and acting, and it really captured the ambient insanity of Reaganomics, the Cold War, and Yuppiedom. Think about it, in the 80s, we didn't know from one day to the next if one of those monkeys in the Pentagon or the Kremlin was gonna push the button, and how did we react? Did we learn to 'duck and cover', like mom and dad? Did we get stoned and try to make love instead of war? Did we put on polyester and go disco? No, we put on a brave face, pretended the end wan't nigh, and made like it was business as usual.
We were dangerous batty loons.
That said, Aliens, Empire, or Raiders would all be epic picks too, but what, not even honorable mention for The Goonies?
Jeeze dudes. We all play D&D here, and not one of you geeks liked The Goonies?
