Defining a decade with a movie: 1990s

Pulp Fiction inspired countless puerile imitators. That's the true mark of era-defining. That, and Jules Winfield is one of the greatest film characters ever.

(And, just for the record, it seems to me that the 1990s didn't have nearly as many memorable movies as the 1980s did )

It also showed Hollywood that these "independents" could make good, quality movie. So people like Peter Jackson and Guillermo del Toro can thank Robert Rodriguez for that.

Actually, I prefer the original "independents": Francis Ford Coppola, George Lucas, Steven Spielberg, Martin Scorsese, etc. Without them, the film industry should have died in the 70's.
