Defy elven forest-fighting tactics! (Now open to my players)

So you want to be able to move troops up the river fairly quickly, huh?

Start pulling the trees near the riverbank down on top of the river. Cover it. If you can, use vines and rope to lash the trunks together. Make it one long wooden highway up to the fortress.

You take away the enemy's trees and you take away the traps they've placed in the river.

Instead of using wheeled wagons to travel the new road, use sleighs. The skids will eliminate any problems you'll have with uneven surfaces.

London

Yep - Tooting... but alas not for long, have to move because the other half has a new job in Coventry. Otherwise would have been looking for a group around here. As it is going to be looking for some players around Leighton Buzzard.

Tooting - that's where I live, and run the Borderlands campaign with StalkingBlue et al! :)

I once had to move to Coventry because other half got job there - my commiserations. Er, you'll love it... :uhoh:

I played Zana Than in SB's Midnight campaign, she was the last original PC until she got killed leading the attack on an orc fort last night. It was very Matthew Broderick in the film 'Glory', if you've seen that. :)

Glory - that's the civil war one with Denzel and Morgan isn't it?

We're not actually moving to Coventry - I still work in London, so we're moving to Milton Keynes sort of area (oooohhh soooo much nicer :( I here you cry!) so we can both commute. Meantime she commutes on a weekly basis!

Anyway good to know ya - great to hear that Tooting isn't completely off the gamers map. Don't get a chance to play enough these days - the guys I've played with most are in Brighton and Huddersfield. Games are few and far betwee. WOuld love to get some more opportunities - are you guys interested in an extra player for a couple of months until we move? :heh:

Hiya - yup, the Civil War one where they all die in the end attacking a Confederate fortress (we did better - won, and only lost 2 (inc my PC) - for 27 orcs & goblins.

I'd def be interested in another good player! :) email me at simontmn@ntlworld.com and maybe we can set up a pub meet at The George near where I live.

Well, maybe Orcs (and even Humans) wouldn't quite think this way, but I would.

Think long term

In the long run, it's a war of attrition that the Elves cannot win.

I'd keep my forces concentrated and not waste them by scattering them around to be killed piecemeal. I'd start working on deep penetration forces to scout the woods and find the elven settlements, so that we could
possibly kill more than a few at one time. I would work on poisons and plague. Poison the springs, taint the waters.

I'd step up my hack-and-burn-the-forest tactics. I'd encourage as many children among my people as possible, to increase our future numbers. I'd set up counter-ambushes. Situations which look inviting to the enemy but are traps.

Get arcane skills!!! This would be a very high priority. Simply no excuse for not making every effort to gain these skills, particularly divination and the like, useful for information gathering.
