Deity for Fisherfolk on a Lake

TarionzCousin

Second Most Angelic Devil Ever
Who would villagers in the Forgotten Realms worship if they live on a lake and subsist off of fishing and lumber?

Mielikki - Forests
Valkur - Sailors
Tymora - Good Luck

Some other deity?

Chauntea would be a good choice also. Although not specifically for fishing, she would be concerned with lumber (forrests), and as the Earth Mother, all forms of common subsistence are her perview (specifically agriculture, but I would think hunting, lumber, and fishing would also apply). I don't see why she wouldn't be someone that one could entreat for success while fishing.

An outside of the box idea could also be Istishia. Traditionally he's only concerned with Water Elementals, but his portfolio technically includes all water. An excerpt from Faiths and Avatars reads: "Istishia always sends a representative to accept offerings... These representatives can be anything form his priests to fish to water elementals. His gifts to his followers are most often the ability to travel easily through water, (or) the knowledge to find something hidden in water (such as fish)..." However, he is rather whimsical over whether he listens to his followers or not - as whimsical and random as the luck of fishermen...

Po-Peil, the Pocket Fisherman?

The Bass Master?

In all seriousness, they could worship a powerful being posing as a god, especially if they're isolated, insular and xenophobic.

Dude..... DAGON. They have to worship Dagon.

Not these villagers. They are going to be kidnapped by yuan-ti for wholesale slaughter/sacrifice.

Eldath was the goddess I couldn't remember/find.

Ha ha, fair enough. Although I think it's a rule that isolated fishermen are worshipers of Dagon or Mother Hydra, and one that you break at your own peril. ;)

Although I've always liked Eldath. She's one of the few religions in Forgotten Realms that has interested me, and I've always wanted to play a cleric of her faith. Never really seen her as a goddess of lakes, although I think that's more from a misinterpretation on my part more than anything explicitly written.
