delay spell feat

Had I my druthers (and as DM, I do!) I'd reduce the level increase on Delay Spell to +1.. possibly +0. It doesn't inherrantly ADD anything to the spell.. just gives it some hang time so you can manipulate when it goes off.

I can say I have never seen anyone use a feat to take Delay Spell thats for sure.

I was thinking about the feat one time and its uses....

Have a Cleric cast Sanctuary, then cast spells with Delay Feat-Now if you cast a attack spell with Delay-does Sanctuary end immediatly? or when the spell actually goes off? The Cleric would be standing there stacking up spells to all end when he was ready for his Sanctuary to end.

I know due to game balance I would have it end as soon as you cast the "Delayed" spell. But the rules seem vague if you could actually do this and have it be legal(by offical rules).

The reason I said I would downgrade it is because I do think its a great feat to use. If you were invisible and started casting spells on something that was stationary most of the time..you could really scew them over.

I understand that your never guaranteed to find a creature that sits still, but say you multi-class with rogue and sneak up on some monsters or a really high-level one. You could cast many spells and have them all attack on the "surprise" round, while you cast your regular spell. This would also include any quicken spells. I dont see why people wouldnt take this feat, but I guess its just up to people's personal styles. I use this feat a lot and haven't had too many problems with casting multiple spells before the enemy realizes(except for a few Listen checks).

As i said before i think this feat gives you a lot, maybe not in flash and bang with more damage.

for the Sanctuary thing - I'd say that until you get the benefits, you don't get the restrictions.

Amen, if the guy's willing to spend an actual, real, feat slot for that crap of a feat, then god bless any attempt he makes to make it useful.

seriosly read up on those lsiten check rules. Irs DC 0 to hear spellcasting. Heck since your talking in a loud firm voice its probably should be DC-2.

So unless you're a couple of hundred feat away.(I'd go with 400+ feat away and use long range spells now we're talking DC 40+) they will hear you with out the additional feat and spell elvel of silent spell.

I've never been able to use this feat except in really contrived(or the deck already massively in my favor) situations. And I'm a really freakin evil DM.
