[QUOTE="Gaiden, post: 1832934, member: 103"] So what is the final breakdown? (To all other EN Worldians) I am also going to be involved in this game that Solid Snake is making a character for and I was thinking something along the lines of a Tom Hanks type character in Saving Private Ryan: someone with a background as a teacher of some type (non-martial) who was thrown into this war with the demons and had to forego his chosen profession to fight for his world. Because we will both be set about 100 years into the war I am thinking that the only race that is really appropriate would be an elf. I was originally looking at DWS but I can't really fit in the background very well with that character type. I was thinking that the best fit for the background would be either a monk or a wizard. The wizard is attractive as its the elf's favorite class. However, continuing progression in an arcane profession is very specific in this world and I really don't think it meshes well with the Tom Hanks persona - after all, as a wizard I would be able to send the demons back to the abyss they crawled out of with a spell. I just can't picture that character being as afraid as a character that would actually have to fight them. So if I stick with monk as a background, to multiclass, they have to be close to equal levels to not incur penalties. Fortunately we start out at 10th level so I don't have to worry about the midlevels where there would be a level gap (and I am not even sure if the DM will enforce the monk multiclassing rules). I was thinking Monk 5, Ranger 5 with Point Blank Shot, Rapid Shot, TWF, Improved Favored Enemy, and Weapon Finesse (stat spread is 18, 17, 14, 14, 13, 13). At close range with flurry, TWF'ing, and RS, I would be looking at 5 attacks a round which would be at +10, +10, +10, +9, +5 using MW shuriken and an unarmed strike with magic fang (from the ranger). Each shuriken would do 1d2+9 dmg (+7 because of F.E. bonuses) against demons and the unarmed strike would do 1d8+9. What do you all think? (Solid Snake - going to hijack this thread from you ;)).
